Dad - Achan - Pappa - Appa

When you no longer listen or care what I say. I’m still your Dad.

When you decide I’m old fashioned and want to go your own way. I’m still your Dad.

When you talk back, complain and argue. I’m still your Dad.

When you figure you know more than I do. I’m still your Dad.

When you move away and take a piece of my heart with you. I’m still your Dad.

I will love you still as much as the first day I held you in my arms. I’m still your Dad.

I will pray for you and make sure your wings are strong enough to soar. I’m still your Dad.

I’ll want what’s best and will sacrifice my plans for yours. I’m still your Dad.

I’ll always have room for you and a hug to welcome you. I’m still your Dad.

Until my last breath, I’ll keep carrying your love with me. And I will thank God every day for the privilege and joy it’s been to be called — your Dad.

Omen Envelope aka Shagun Ka Lifafa!

On an auspicious occasion like a Birthday, Engagement or Marriage, sometimes we prefer giving a "शगुन का लिफाफा" instead of a gift item. But the money we put in the envelope is never like Rs. 100, 500 or 1000; but it is always Rs. 101, 501 or 1001.

Have you ever thought why we add that extra one rupee in the Well, there are four age-old reasons for doing that:

1. "Zero" signifies an end, while "One" signifies a new beginning. That extra one rupee ensures that the receiver does not come across a zero.

2. Mathematically, the numbers 100, 500 and 1000 are divisible, but the numbers 101, 501 and 1001 are indivisible. शगुन is a blessing, and we simply want our good wishes and blessings to remain indivisible.

3. The added one rupee is a symbol of continuity, ahead of the basic amount. It strengthens the bond between the giver and the receiver. It simply means, "Our good relationship will continue".

4.  However, the added rupee must be a coin, and never a one rupee note. A coin is made of metal, which comes from Mother Earth 🌍 and it is considered to be an अंश or a part of Goddess Lakshmi. While the bigger amount is donation, the one rupee coin is the "seed" for further growth of that amount. Your good wishes and blessings are for the better life growth in either cash, kind or karma.

just for fun.

Two little boys stole a load of apples from a neighbours apple tree. They decided to go to a quiet place to share the lot equally.

One of them suggested the nearby cemetery.
As they were jumping over the gate to enter the cemetery, they dropped two apples, but they didn't bother to pick them since they had enough.

A few minutes later, a drunk, on his way from a bar, passed near the cemetery gate & heard a voice saying: "One for me, one for you. One for me, one for you. One for me, one for you."
He immediately sobered up & ran as fast as he could to a church nearby, for the priest.
"Father, please come with me. Come & witness God & Satan sharing corpses at the cemetery.”

They both ran back to the cemetery gate & the voice continued: "One for me, one for you. One for me, one for you. One for me, one for you."

Suddenly, the voice stopped counting & said: "What about the two at the gate?"

You've never seen 2 people running so fast!

*Arjuna’s Arrows and Algebra!*

🙏🙏

*Bhāskarāchārya* (1114 -1185 CE), has been called the greatest mathematician of medieval India. He was born in Karnataka, and is considered the progenitor of Differential Calculus - 500 years before Newton and Leibniz!

Bhāskarāchārya wrote at least four mathematical treatises in Sanskrit. One of them, titled *Leelavati*, contains many algebra-related teasers, which have become the subject of significant research by scholars. These teasers are in the form of *shlokas* which pose the problems. The shlokas need to be interpreted correctly to decipher the meaning in order to find the solution.

Take a look at the shloka displayed below.

The direct meaning of this shloka is a question formulated as follows:

During the battle between Arjuna and Karna in the Mahabharata, Arjuna released some arrows. Of the released arrows:
• Half were consumed in stopping the arrows coming from Karna
• 4 times the squareroot of the arrows were consumed to control the horses of Karna's chariot
• 6 were for gaining control over Shalya, the charioteer of Karna. (Shalya was the maternal uncle of Nakula and Sahadeva)
• 3 were used to take on the umbrella and flag of the chariot and the bow of Karna.
• Finally Karna was killed by a single arrow.

So how many arrows were released by Arjuna in the battle?

Basic algebra easily yields the answer to this question, if the equation is formulated correctly.
Let the total number of arrows be X. The statements above can be reduced to the algebraic form
** X = X/2 + 4√X + 6 + 3 + 1*
Solving the above, we get the value of X=100 for the total number of arrows shot by Arjuna.

However, the fun is not just in getting the algebra right. There is so much hidden information in this shloka. If we pause to think a little deeper about the hidden meanings:

• Even for an atirathi like Arjuna, it took as many as 50 arrows to stop the arrows of Karna - it tells us about the skills of Karna.
• That the horses needed 40 arrows to immobilize the chariot tells us about the kind of training given to the horses in the battle field.
• When even the horses needed 40 arrows, that Shalya the charioteer surrendered with just 6 tells us that he is favouring Arjuna.
• 3 arrows to take the chariot and the bow shows the helplessness of Karna.
• Once everything is in control the enemy should vanquished in just a single arrow.

So the rules and skills required to win such a battle operationally are:

 firstly, stop the enemy fire-power; second, immobilize the enemy by taking on his mobility- the horses and the driver; thirdly signal to him his helplessness by destroying the carriage, and finally eliminate the enemy himself.

If we analyze the same shloka on the *spiritual* side:
• To attain ultimate liberation, firstly one needs to control over his/her personal desires, this being a very difficult task, thus takes 50 arrows.
• Then take control over 5 senses and sensual pleasures indicated by the horses. The 40 arrows needed to do this indicate the difficulty of the task.
• Gaining control over 5 senses will lead one to the control over the consciousness (manas, thought, ego) indicated by the driver.
• If all the foregoing are done, achieving the ultimate liberation (moksha) should be relatively easy.

This is the greatness of our ancestors in sanatana dharma - Vidya integrated with Values. Just a single shloka includes so much of knowledge!🙏

Ps.  I got this message via WhatsApp from a group post, original source and credit's unknown.

I thought this message conveys to much that one needs to know about our heritage, past and lost wisdom and so on... these need to be taught in schools so that these kind of wonders can be appreciated and everyone can be proud of our past.

To ponder, Good & Evil!

After wife took 5 hours to finalise one dress.

The husband commented:
"Adam was very lucky because he and Eve used to wear only leaves. He need not have wasted too much of time."

Ultimate comment of wife :
"Who knows how many trees Adam had to climb and finally choose the leaves as per the wish of Eve. You are lucky u have to just sit in AC shop
😜😜😜

P.S.
Adam and Eve walked around naked.  It is only after eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge that they became aware of their nakedness.  Human race should be eternally grateful to the devil for making eve and in turn Adam eat that fruit. All our. knowledge and scientific pursuit came out as a result of it.  Otherwise humans would have remained dumb like animals.

All praise and glory to devil,  the father of knowledge and wisdom.

.

My take from the book, “Attitude is everything” by John Keller.

I have recently completed reading the book “Attitude is everything” by John Keller.

ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING
CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE. . .
CHANGE YOUR LIFE . . .

This book is a quick and short read (128 pages). And boy! the lessons given here are so invaluable. The book is written in simple English that it is readable across every age and somehow, I felt that this book is even suitable for teens to achieve success from early years itself.

“You are not what you think you are, but what you think – You Are” –
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

contents of the book

The basic idea of the book is that it tells you to always have a positive outlook in every aspect of one’s life, be it the way you walk, the words you speak, and every action that one performs should be in a positive manner so that the “positivity” becomes integral to one’s subconscious mind. Here are some interesting things the book tells….

  • Success is a state of mind.
  • Your success in life begins and ends with your attitude.
  • You are a human magnet, we become what we think!
  • Behave what you want to be for the transition to happen effectively.
  • You have control over the pictures that occupy your mind, However, when you don’t consciously decide which pictures to play, your mind will look into the archives and keep replaying the old movies that is there in your mental library.
  • Visualize your success. Be clear about the things and goals you want to achieve.
  • Never underestimate your power to change yourself.
  • Success = Think - Speak – Act
  • You must first clearly see a thing before you can do it.  Visualization is key!
  • Whenever does someone asks you How are you?
  • STOP COMPLAINING
  • Success is going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm.
  • The greatest mistake a person can make is too afraid of making one
  • You can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.
  • Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to drawback.
  • Committed people are going to hang in and prevail – no matter what.
  • Watch what you say, as that will become you and yours.
  • Use positive self-talk as often as possible so that the spoken words get into your subconscious mind to become what you spoke.
  • How you respond to “How are you?”, defines your approach to your dreams and desires and more so if you can succeed.
  • Complainers lack perspective, they tend to blow their problem way out of proportion. Optimistic people have a sense of what is truly important in life.
  • Associate with positive people, achievers, performers, visionaries, etc, as their attitude and wisdom will inspire you to excel and achieve greatness.
  • Evaluate friendship, from time to time. Those who occupy your time have a significant impact on your priceless procession, “your mind”. Do not abandon them but reduce your interaction if all you gain from the relationship is toxicity.
  • You are stronger than your fears…   and you can overcome them.
  • Confront your fears… and you’re on the way to developing your potential and leading the exciting, fulfilling life you deserve.     It’s a decision you’ll never regret!
  • You can’t ignore negative thoughts altogether. Instead, you can try indulging in more positive thoughts. The positive thoughts should dominate your negative thoughts.
This book was bought by my wife and she too procrastinates quite a bit and she then prescribed this book for me to read and help me to introspect and overcome my procrastination for the family to be happy and set an example.

It's more than just a book. The author has explained using multiple examples instead of giving some deep theories, and this makes it quite easy to comprehend. This book was a very welcomed change. I would recommend everyone to buy and read this book… I intend to use this book as a refresher whenever I would need some perspective…

Inspiration read...

"എനിക്ക് ഏതു പണിയും ഒരു ലഹരിയാണ് ;

ആ ശക്തിയെ ഉണർത്തിയാൽ ജീവിതത്തിലെ ഓരോ നിമിഷവും ഊർജസ്വലമാകും;

ചലനമില്ലാത്ത അവസ്ഥയാണ് അപകടകരം;

-------------------------------------------
Translated in English:
-------------------------------------------

Do not hesitate, always move time ......
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
"Swamiji, I'm tired of life. It's enough to die; isn't it better to stop singing when your voice is good ....?"

Arriving at the ashram, the young man told the Mahatma ...

The monk listened to the calls rising from the whirlpool of his mental anguish .........

"Son, let me tell you something that happened here in connection with the ashram ...."

That Mahatma started saying ....
At the monastery first a carpenter came to work; He cursed himself for the job he had been given and left very early, dissatisfied with what he had done ....

Then someone else came to work. He only measured and cut the work that needed to be done without much silence and left on time ...

After that, a third person came and did the job beautifully, very enthusiastically and effortlessly, without even paying attention to time and food, and happily stood up and asked, "Is there anything else?" When asked the reason for his enthusiasm, he said ..

“Any work for me is an intoxication;

Money is not important, work is charm ....... "

Look, here we are learning a lesson ...

That is, excitement is a powerful intoxicant that lies dormant in everyone ...

When that power is awakened, every moment of life becomes energetic;
It's not just one thing, it's all about life .....

Everything is heartfelt novelty for those who love life. They are able to infuse immense energy into everything they engage in, radiate positive waves all around, and invigorate life and death ........

It reminds me of the devilish state of hell when the first worker lives with a curse, the human condition of the earth when the second does only swadharma, and the heavenly state of heaven when the third does zealous life deeds ......

We must look at life with enthusiasm; Don't be depressed, we should always move from one activity to another ......

Immobility is dangerous;

That's where the enthusiasm is lost, and that's when life gets frustrating ...

Those who work hard will never fail, they will continue to succeed ......

Laziness is not the answer; Pay full attention to what you are doing and you are sure to succeed .....

Is this just random, I think not!

These pics here are just some random thoughts that have been running in my mind since a few days.

Everything begins with me and only me!

I have to work on myself first before things can become better and all changes begin with me making the first move.

Sip your tea nice and slow... poem by Lee Tzu Pheng

A beautiful poem by Lee Tzu Pheng (Singapore Cultural Medallion winner)

Sip your Tea
Nice and Slow

No one Ever knows
when it’s Time to Go,
There’ll be no Time
to enjoy the Glow,
So sip your Tea
Nice and Slow.

Life is too Short but
feels pretty Long,
There’s too Much to do, so much going Wrong,
And Most of the Time You Struggle to be Strong,
Before it’s too Late
and it’s time to Go,
Sip your Tea
Nice and Slow.

Some Friends stay,
others Go away,
Loved ones are Cherished but not all will Stay.
Kids will Grow up
and Fly away.
There’s really no Saying how Things will Go,
So sip your Tea
Nice and Slow.

In the End it’s really
all about understanding Love
For this World
and in the Stars above,
Appreciate and Value who truly Cares,
Smile and Breathe
and let your Worries go,
So Just Sip your Tea
Nice and Slow.

This poem is beyond all relationships
But made for us all.

When I'm dead.
Your tears will flow
But I won't know
Cry with me now instead.

You will send flowers,
But I won't see
Send them now instead

You'll say words of praise
But I won't hear.
Praise me now instead

You'll forget my faults,
But I won't know.....
Forget them now  instead.

You'll miss me then,
But I won't feel.
Miss me now, instead.

You'll wish You could have spent more time with me,
Spend it now instead

When you hear I'm gone, you'll find your way to my house to pay condolence but we haven't even spoken in years.
Look for me now.

*"Spend time with every person around you, and help them with whatever you have to make them happy, your families, friends and  acquaintances.*
*Make them feel Special because you never know when time will take them away from you forever.*

Alone I can 'Say' but together we can 'Talk'.
Alone I can 'Enjoy' but together we can 'Celebrate'
Alone I can 'Smile' but together we can 'Laugh'

That's the BEAUTY of Human Relations.
We are nothing without each other
So Stay Connected!

“How do I avoid pandemic?" - Osho

How do I avoid pandemic?"
This question was asked to OSHO about 40 years ago during the AIDS period!

′′ You're asking the wrong question Osho replied, ′′ the right question should be:
′′ How to avoid the fear of dying caused by the epidemic (pandemic)?"

Because it is very easy to avoid the virus, it is very difficult to avoid the fear in you and in the world. People will die more from this fear than from the epidemic (pandemic).
There is NO virus in this world more dangerous than FEAR.

Understand this fear, otherwise you will become a dead body before your body dies.

It has nothing to do with the virus. The scary atmosphere you feel in these moments is collective madness... It has happened a thousand times and will continue to happen And it will continue if you don't understand the psychology of crowds and fear.

You usually keep your fear at bay, but in the moment of collective madness, your consciousness can be completely lost.
You won't even know when you lost control of your fear. Then fear can make you do anything. In such a situation you can also take your own life or the lives of others.
So much will happen in the coming times:
Many people will kill themselves and many people will kill more.

Attention, be mindful.
Don't watch news that trigger fear.

Stop talking about the epidemic, repeating the same thing over and over again is like self-hypnosis. Fear is a kind of self-hypnosis. This idea will cause chemical changes in the body. If you repeat the same idea over and over again, a chemical change is triggered that can sometimes be so toxic that it can kill you.

During an epidemic, energy around the world becomes irrational. This way you can fall into a black hole anytime. Meditation then becomes a protective aura into which no negative energy can penetrate.

A very valuable lesson...

Navjot Singh Sidhu once shared an anecdote of a one day international against West Indies in 1988. It was his third tournament and Sachin Tendulkar's second. To give you a little context, it was a wet pitch and as you may know, the West Indies players were HUGE!

Sidhu very desperately asked the then captain, Azharuddin to do him one favour and win the toss because batting on the wet pitch was going to be a huge challenge!

As the coin was flipped for the toss, Azharuddin indicated to Sidhu to pad up because they had lost the toss!

Frightened of the massive West Indies bowlers and concerned about how they would face them, Sidhu and Tendulkar started their walk to the pitch.

Sidhu asked Tendulkar, "What are we going to do?" The 16-year-old Tendulkar, in his squeaky voice simply replies, "we'll play." Sidhu then asks who will face the first over? Tendulkar very cheekily says you face and quickly walks over to the other side of the pitch.

Left with no choice, Sidhu gets ready to face Curtly Ambrose. He bowled 7 balls, of which 6 hit Sidhu on various parts of his body and none even touched the bat and one was a no-ball.

Before the second over began, Sidhu and Tendulkar had a quick chat, and Sidhu said, "this guy is so huge that the balls seem to be dropping from the sky! As soon as it bounces, I'm left confused about which way it will go! What are you going to do?” Once again, Tendulkar in his squeaky voice says, "I'll play."

The second over was to be bowled by Ian Bishop, a massive, mountain of a man. When he ran, the earth seemed to move. Ian Bishop starts his run-up and delivers and to Sidhu's surprise, Tendulkar runs towards the ball and receives it as a full toss and whacks a sixer!

Stunned, Sidhu asks Sachin, "What did you do?" Tendulkar simply says, "You said it's difficult to judge the ball after it bounces so I didn't let it bounce."

What I'm trying to explain through this simple example is how a champion's mindset works.

Their thought process is not "it's so difficult, how will I do it?"

Their thought process is "yes, it's difficult, how can I accomplish it?"

It's the mindset that sets a champion apart from the crowd.

Always remember, your thoughts create your habits which create your character which builds your destiny.

An important lesson to be learned for one to progress from being a Manager to being a LEADER, especially so very relevant to me.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
John was a very dull boy. His peers called him "Father of fools"

When he was in a Private school he got the following results:

Maths = 2%
English = 5%
Science = 0%
Social sciences = 1%

He was taken to a government school and got the following results;

Maths = 0%
English = 1%
Science = 0%
Social sciences = 0%

His parents were very disappointed but still decided to put him in a Catholic school even though they were not catholic.

The First term John passed and was the  first in the class.

Maths = 90%
English = 93%
Science = 95%
Social sciences = 89%

His parents could not believe it.

They asked him how he managed to pass and he said;

*"When I saw  a man nailed on the cross at every corner of the school building, I knew that these teachers don't joke with students here, they will nail me too''*

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Do not mess with the Management...

A king had 10 wild dogs.
He used them to torture and kill any minister that misguided him.

A minister once gave an opinion which was wrong and which the king didn’t like at all…
So he ordered that the minister to be thrown to the dogs.

The minister said,
"I served you loyally 10 years and you do this..?

The king was unrelenting.

Minister pleaded"Please give me 10 days before you throw me to the dogs"
The king agreed.

In those 10 days the minister went to the keeper of the dogs and told him he wanted to serve the dogs for the next 10 days…

The guard was baffled…
But he agreed.
So the minister started feeding the dogs, caring for them, washing them, providing all sorts of comfort for them.

So when the 10 days were up…

The king ordered that the minister be thrown to the dogs as sentenced .

When he was thrown in,
everyone was amazed at what they saw..
The dogs were wagging their tails playing with the condemned minister..licking his feet.

The king was baffled at what he saw. ” what happened to the dogs? !!!” He growled.

The minister then said;”
I served the dogs for only 10 days and they didn’t forget my service…
Yet I served you for 10 years and you forgot all at the first mistake!”…

The king realised his mistake

and

Replaced the dogs with crocodiles !!

The Tragic Hero.

There was a farmer who had a horse and a goat…..One day, the horse became ill. So he called the veterinarian, who said:

"Well, your horse has a virus. He must take this medicine for three days. I'll come back on the 3rd day and if he's not better, we're going to have to put him down.

Nearby, the goat listened closely to their conversation.

The next day, they gave the horse the medicine and left.

The goat approached the horse and said: “Be strong, my friend. Get up or else they're going to put you to sleep!”

On the second day, they again gave the horse the medicine and left.

The goat came back and said: "Come on buddy, get up or else you're going to die!
Come on, I'll help you get up. Let's go! One, two, three..."

On the third day, they came to give the horse the medicine and the vet said:
"Unfortunately, we're going to have to put him down tomorrow. Otherwise,
the virus might spread and infect the other horses".

After they left, the goat approached the horse and said: "Listen pal, it's now or never! Get up, come on! Have courage! Come on! Get up! Get up! That's it, slowly! Great!
Come on, one, two, three... Good, good. Now faster, come on...... Fantastic! Run, run more! Yes! Yay! Yes! You did it, you're a champion...!!!"

All of a sudden, the owner came back, saw the horse running in the field and began shouting: It's a miracle! My horse is cured. We must have a grand party. Let's kill the goat...!!!

Nobody truly knows which employee actually deserves the merit of success, or who's actually contributing the necessary support to make things happen.

Bhagavat Gita and Vishnu Saharanama.

Very interesting

The difference between Bhagavat Gita and Vishnu Saharanama.
     ( from Vimala Raghuram )

Why do spiritual doctors prescribe chanting Vishnusahasranama more than reading Bhagavat Gita?

Bhagavat Gita is the quintessence of Mahabharata and a sermon by Sri Krishna, while Vishnu Sahasra Nama is a prayer sung by Bheeshma as his parting message to Pandavas.

Actually Krishna himself requested Bheeshma to reveal these stotras to Pandavas.

Bheeshma surprised, questioned Krishna “why are you choosing me at this stage in my life for this, while you yourself could do this?”

Then the Lord clarified : “Mine is like water of the ocean, which is not potable. When the message is through you, it is like rain from the cloud formed out of water from the ocean. This of course can quench the thirst. Moreover, I am the quintessence of Vedas. Whatever I say would appear as though I am extolling myself.  On the other hand, if you, a realised soul, speak about it, it has universal acceptance."

*Bhagavat Gita is the root of the tree, while Vishnusahasranama is the fruit*

Heart Touching Story.

It was getting dark.  Someone was calling from behind the locked iron gate.  Wondering who it could be I came out.  An elderly person was standing behind the gate. The clothes wrinkled and with a small bag in his hand he appeared to have travelled some distance coming here.  Looking into a small piece of paper in his hands he enquired, “Isn’t this Anand, Number 8, Yogananda Street, my son?”

"Yes, I am Anand and this is the address.  And you…”, I mumbled.  Slightly shivering and moistening his dry lips with the tongue he replied, handing over the letter,

“Babu, I am your father’s friend.  I am coming from your village.  Your father gave me this letter and advised that I seek help from you”.

Taking that letter from him, exclaiming “father?”, I eagerly read that letter. “Dear Anand, blessings to you.  The person carrying this letter is my friend. His name is Ramayya.  Works hard. A few days ago, his only son died in an accident. He is running around seeking compensation.  That would help him and his wife to pull along with the other meagre income.  I am sending the police reports after the accident, the compensation affidavits given by the Travel Agents and other relevant papers.  He was told that the final payment may be collected in the Head Office.  This is his first visit to Hyderabad and he is a stranger.  I am hoping that you would be able to help him.  Take care of your health.  Visit us at your earliest convenience.  Your loving father”.

Ramayyagaru was standing watching me.  I thought for a moment and invited him inside.  Giving him some water to drink, I enquired, “did you have anything to eat?”.  He replied, “No, my son.  As the journey got delayed, I ate the two fruits that I brought with me.”

Going inside I prepared four dosas and served them with pickles.  Saying, “you please eat”, I went out and made a couple of calls and returned.  When I returned, I found that he had finished the tiffin and was sitting with a few papers in his hand.  There was a photo of his deceased son.  The boy was handsome and young.  May be 22 years.  My eyes moistened.
“He is my only son.  Those who were born before him died due to various other causes. He was the only one we have.  Mahesh was his name. He studied well and got a job.  Assuring us that he will take care of us and we would get over all hardships he took up the job.  On the fateful day he was involved in a road accident while crossing the road. Died on the spot.  Not wishing to take compensation in the name of the deceased son we were initially reluctant.  But day by day, I am becoming weak and my wife too is not doing well.  With your father’s insistence I came here. Saying my son will help, he sent me with this letter”, he concluded.

“Fine. It’s late now. Take rest”.  Saying this I too slept.

Next morning, we got ready, had coffee at home and started. Finishing breakfast on the way, we reached the Office address mentioned in the documents. “Anand, I will take care of the rest.  You attend to your office work” said Ramayyagaru. “No issue.  I have taken leave for today”, I replied. Being with him I got the compensation paid to him. “Thank you, dear son.  My wife is alone at home and I will go back home”, said the old man.  “Come, I will drop you at the bus-stand and see you off.”  I took him to the bus-stand, got him a ticket, bought a few fruits to eat on the way.

He said with joy in his eyes, he said, “Anandbabu, taking leave for my sake you helped me a lot.  Soon after going home I will narrate everything to your father and thank him too.”

Smiling and holding his hands I explained, “I am not your friend’s son Anand. I am Aravind. You came to the wrong address.  That Anand’s house is another 2 km away.  You were already tired and I didn’t have the heart to tell you the truth.  I called the number in your letter and enquired.  His wife said that Anand had gone out of town on some work.  I called your friend and told him too.  He felt very sad.  Once I assured him that I will take care he felt good.  The loss you have suffered is irreparable.  But I felt that I should help you.  That I did it gives me greatest pleasure.”  As the bus moved, holding my hands Ramayya left with tears of gratitude in his eyes.  “God bless you, my child”, were his parting words.  That is enough for me, I thought.

My father passed away fifteen year earlier.  Now looking at Ramayyagaru I felt my father has returned. Looking up at the sky I thought my father must be somewhere there. “Dad, did you come in this form to check my progress in life!  Sending me a letter, were you testing me whether I would help or not?  Born to a great father like you, as a son I have performed by duty.  Are you happy?”  Tears of joy flooded my eyes.

“Have an intention to help. Nature will work out the way.”

Ganesa Chathurthi message from Sadguru Swami Bodhananda ji Maharaj

Ganesa Chathurthi message from Sadguru Swami Bodhananda ji Maharaj
~~~~~~~~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The Hindus world over celebrate Vinayaka Chaturthi on the 5th of September, the fourth day of the waxing moon, in the month of Bhadrapada. The celebrations continue for ten days till the 14th day of the bright moon. Devotees make clay images of Ganesha, do prana pratishta,  and worship the Lord of Obstacles offering modakam, durva and red hibiscus flowers. On the fourteenth day the idol is immersed in nearby river, lake or ocean.
Thus what is invoked from the universal consciousness is reversed back to the same source. Replaying the cosmic cycle of creation, celebration and dissolution. All rituals are a recreation of this eternal cycle of becoming and unbecoming; birth and death, day and night. Knowing this cyclical nature of existence is freedom, going through this roller coaster ride without losing self is spirituality.
We are a unique paradox. On one side we are infinite consciousness and on the other we are tiny specks of matter floating in the vast cosmos. Consciousness riding on matter and matter floating in consciousness. The eater becoming the eaten. A snake swallowing its own tail. Ganesha creates obstacles and removes obstacles. As though it is all a play. Life is just a game of plug and play. Isn’t spirituality  being  playful?
Ganesha has big belly, big ears, flexible trunk, broken tusk, mischievous eyes and He rides on a tiny robust mouse. What do we learn by the worship of this intriguing icon? Ability to digest complex data, willingness to listen stories of others, flexibility in opinions, humility in accomplishments, child like curiosity and encompassing wisdom!
May Lord Siddhi Vinayaka bring prosperity, peace and loving unity to humanity and bless each one of us with personal transformation.
SWAMI BODHANANDA
